Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there no hourly rate on this page?
Because an hourly number on its own tells you nothing useful. What matters is the scope and what it costs to get there, so I quote after a short call once I understand the problem. You will have a written number before any work starts, and it will not move mid-engagement.
Who actually does the work?
I do. There is no agency behind this page, no account manager, and no junior developer doing the work while a senior name sits on the proposal. If your project genuinely needs more hands than I have, I will say so rather than quietly subcontracting it.
What does the audit actually get me?
A written report you can hand to any developer, listing what is wrong, ranked by how badly it will hurt and how expensive it is to fix. It is deliberately scoped so you can judge my work before committing to anything larger. Plenty of clients take the report and act on it themselves, which is a fine outcome.
How does the technical partner arrangement work?
We agree how much of my capacity you get each month and you have first call on it. Most of these run eight to ten months because the work keeps coming, not because of a lock-in clause. You can bill monthly against reserved capacity or hourly against tracked time, whichever suits your cash flow.
Can I stop, pause, or scale down?
Yes, with 2 to 4 weeks' notice depending on what we agreed. I would rather you leave cleanly with your codebase documented than stay in a contract you have outgrown. Handover notes are part of the work, not an extra.
Do you raise your rate?
I review it every six months, and never in the middle of an agreed engagement. If a change applies to you, you will hear it at least a month before it takes effect, with the option to lock the current rate for a longer commitment.
How do payments work?
Retainers are billed monthly in advance. Hourly work is billed weekly or bi-weekly with detailed time reports. Fixed-scope projects follow milestone payments agreed before the work starts. Bank transfer or the major payment platforms.
